How to choose a gift that truly delights
A good gift isn't necessarily expensive. It's a gift the person actually uses, one that shows you really thought about them. Here's a process that works for birthdays, Christmas, and weddings.
Start from their life, not from a catalog
Before opening an online store, think: what has the person mentioned recently, what are they dealing with, what are they planning, what frustrates them? That reflection will produce a better idea than the "bestsellers" tab.
Three questions that always work
- What do they do in their free time? (a hobby = a safe bet)
- What have they worn out lately? (wallet, backpack, mug)
- What would they like to try but haven't? (an experience, a course, a voucher)
When all else fails — ask
It's no shame to ask. Better than guessing. If the person has a wishlist online (e.g. in Wish Master), you have an answer in thirty seconds and the surprise is preserved — because you can't see who reserved what.
